When the term "helicopter parent" became a part of the general lexicon in the early 2000s, parents were warned not to hover excessively over their children for fear that young people would never learn to stand on their own two feet. It was good advice because even college students were becoming more and more fragile as they were protected from even normal bumps in the road. Twenty years later, however, there are dangers that most parents would have never imagined -- internet pornography, sexual predators on social media, and seemingly relentless attacks on traditional family values.
