Friends, we’re on the cusp of a new Jim Crow era.

Every day, the far-right makes it harder for Americans to vote.

What should be a right granted to every citizen in this country is becoming a privilege denied to disabled voters, poor voters, voters who live in rural areas, and, in the South especially, impoverished voters and voters of color.

If we don’t stop the far-right, the foundation that our democracy is built on will crumble. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We can beat back the far-right extremists and preserve our democracy. We can ensure that every voter is able to have their voice heard in government. We can protect the rights of every American.

But first, we have to keep the right leaders in Congress to make it happen.

As the representative of America’s Civil Rights District, where the hard-fought battles for equality were won in the midst of violence and hatred, I’m ready to do my part to keep us from sliding backward into an era of rampant injustice.
