Hi John,

Liz Truss is our new prime minister and Kwasi Kwarteng is the Chancellor. In the next few weeks they’ll be setting out their plans. And because it’s party conference season, we’ve got a great opportunity to get our ideas to overhaul the money system on the major political parties’ agendas.

There are some big opportunities coming up in the parliamentary calendar to do just that. [1]. So we’re planning events at the Labour and Conservative party conferences that are happening in a few weeks’ time. [2] Thousands of politicians, influencers and delegates will be there. And we want to try something a little different this year by hosting a stall at The World Transformed festival too. [3] It coincides with the Labour Party conference and it’s a jam-packed four days of panels, talks and rallies for progressives.

It’s no secret that this winter’s looking bleak - in some places they’re planning ‘warm banks’ for people who can’t afford to heat their homes. [4] Meanwhile oil and gas companies and banks are raking in billions in profits. [5] Now more than ever we need to build support for the ideas that will take us out of this mess - like reforming our money and banking system.

John, these events are great opportunities to grow momentum with the public, politicians, and progressive groups - but they cost money. Positive Money is powered by people. Holding a stall costs £500 at The World Transformed. Please will you chip in £3 so together we can reach hundreds of influential people?

Back in June, thanks to funds provided by our supporters, we held a stall at Glastonbury Festival and spoke to thousands of people about the housing crisis and their concerns about the cost of living scandal. [6] Over 1,000 people signed up and joined our movement to reform our broken economic system.

Since 2016, The World Transformed has been an inclusive space for people - especially young people - to come together to exchange ideas, get training and attend workshops.

It’s open to all, so attendees don’t need to be a member of a political party to come along. So it’s a great chance to build support with new audiences and build connections with like-minded organisations.

Over the summer, we’ve seen people come together to fight back against the corrupt economic system that allows water companies to dump sewage in our rivers, forces key workers to use food banks, and expects people to accept low wages or pitiful pay rises. [7]

Whether it's workers out on strike or protestors on the streets - it’s inspiring how powerful we can be when we come together to push back against corporate greed. John, these events are a great chance to build momentum for the solutions that will bring a better quality of life for all. Please will you help get us there by donating £3 now? It will only take a few minutes.

Thanks for all that you do

[1] Right now a bill is passing through parliament called the Financial Services and Markets Bill - it will fundamentally rewrite the rules that shape the financial sector post-Brexit. Together with our partners, we believe this is a crucial opportunity to regulate banks properly and address some of the biggest challenges we’re facing as a country. Read more here:

The Bank of England, along with other major central banks around the world, is actively looking into creating a Central Bank Digital Currency, which could overhaul our money system. Positive Money believes this is a crucial opportunity to create a public money system, remove our reliance on big banks, and democratise access to financial services. Read more here:
