Hello,
After a summer that saw the UK's highest ever temperatures, we now have a new Prime Minister, and a new Parliamentary term has begun. Here's what’s new and coming up from the CCC over the next few weeks:
Just published: Letter to the new Prime Minister
The CCC has collaborated with the National Infrastructure Commission to write a joint letter to Prime Minister Liz Truss to ensure that reaching Net Zero is still an absolute priority for the new administration. The letter highlights credible policies for energy efficiency in buildings, measures to support low-carbon heating in homes, and removal of barriers to building renewables and other low-carbon energy projects as key areas of focus for the new Government.
Read the joint letter here.
Upcoming report launch: Citizens’ panel on home energy decarbonisation
Thursday 15th September will see the launch of a report presenting the results of a citizens’ panel the CCC ran in collaboration with the Climate Citizens project at Lancaster University. Members of the public worked with analysts from the CCC to design a package of measures to support UK homeowners in bringing home energy use down in line with the UK’s 2050 Net Zero commitment. The report will be used as evidence to inform the CCC’s advice to Government on decarbonising domestic buildings.
The launch of the report will take place online from 12-1pm on Thursday 15th September. Please register for the launch here.
Coming up this Autumn
We will be publishing several new reports in the next few months. These include:
- A briefing on voluntary carbon offsets
- A briefing on resilient supply chains
- A new report on Scotland's progress in reducing emissions
