Chicago welcomes migrants arriving from the border NIJC is working closely with local partners to welcome and support asylum seekers and other immigrants who began arriving in Chicago last week by bus from Texas. Despite the intent by the governor of Texas to create chaos and resentment toward immigrants, the City of Chicago and the network of partners here are responding with compassion to meet people's immediate basic needs, and legal services to ensure due process. Seeking asylum is a legal and human right, and we'll continue to defend it. Read NIJC's statement.
