Dear John,
The Senate is back, and it’s being reported that Democrats may force a vote on same-sex marriage by tying it to a must-pass funding bill to avoid a government shutdown. This underhanded tactic would put even more extreme pressure on Republicans to vote to redefine marriage in law. The (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act has already passed the House with nearly a quarter of Republicans voting in favor of it.
Will you take a moment right now to contact your senators? Tell your senators that a vote to redefine marriage, no matter how the bill may be amended, will go much further than Obergefell—it will further threaten religious freedom by undermining the ability of Americans to live out their sincerely-held beliefs. As we’ve already seen, redefining marriage harms children and leads to more indoctrination by the Left.
Katy Faust, founder of Them before Us, recently shared a powerful message that she hopes Senators will hear from their constituents. She told us that senators who are tempted to vote for the bill “are prioritizing their social acceptance over the wellbeing of children. It’s cowardly, and it’s unjust.” |
