John,

I’m running for Congress in New York’s 1st District. I’m an educator, a scientist, and a mother. I’ve built my life in Suffolk County, and I can’t stay on the sidelines when D.C. politicians like our current representative, Lee Zeldin, push an agenda that hurts the place I love and the people I care about.

Suffolk deserves a leader who will fight for affordable healthcare, put people above special interests, and get serious about addressing climate change.

Since launching in July, we have seen that my message is resonating -- people are excited by the opportunity to elect the first female Ph.D. scientist Congresswoman! I've received thousands of grassroots donations, and have the endorsements of EMILY's List, the 314 Action Fund (which works to elect scientists to public office), and Kara Hahn, the Majority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature.

But this is one of the most competitive districts in the country, and we're going up against entrenched special interests. So we need to keep the momentum going.

I'm counting on grassroots supporters to power this campaign. Can you help by making a contribution today?

For the past twenty-two years, I have taught at Stony Brook University, this district's largest employer, where we’ve innovated and inspired the next generation. I worked to create new organic semiconductors that can make solar energy more affordable and attainable. I collaborated with partners to develop entrepreneurship programs that help students build and redefine technological boundaries.

As a scientist, I believe in facts. And it’s a fact that Washington’s inaction is hurting Suffolk families. I’m running for Congress to use my experience as a scientist to protect Suffolk’s waterways, upgrade our clean water infrastructure, and pass legislation to combat climate change.

My approach is simple, but it’s something that’s often missing in Washington right now: trust the facts, find solutions, and work with anyone who has a good idea. That’s what I’ve done my entire life, and it’s what I’ll do in Congress.

With your help, I’ll make sure that everyone in Suffolk has access to healthcare and a fair shot to succeed in a changing economy. I'll protect our environment. I'll work to pass strong, common-sense gun safety legislation to end the gun violence epidemic. And I promise to fight tooth and nail to protect a woman’s right to choose.

I’m excited to be on this journey together.

Sincerely,
Nancy Goroff
