In the six months since the war escalated in Ukraine, children have seen things no child should see. Their homes have been destroyed. Their schools have been attacked. Parents and family members have been lost. Their lives have been torn apart.
UNICEF teams in Ukraine and surrounding countries have embraced children harmed by the effects of the war, listened to their stories and offered care to help them recover. As they’ve dealt with their trauma, children have turned to art to express what they feel.
The drawings below are inspired by those from Ukrainian children who fled the war. As a way of illustrating their perspective, we’ve created an animated video that shows just how drastically life has changed for children — through their eyes. UNICEF remains in Ukraine to deliver critical care to children affected by this war. In the months since it broke out, UNICEF has helped hundreds of thousands of children continue to learn, offered mental health and psychosocial support to 1.7 million children, enabled access to safe water for more than 3 million people and scaled up many vital programs. And with Blue Dot hubs, UNICEF teams are extending care to the millions of children displaced by the war with Child-Friendly Spaces that provide support and protection.
In this time of need, we’re grateful for this community, including supporters like you. Our collective efforts help maintain UNICEF’s long-term response to reach children with care. Learn more about the impact we’re making together right here.
Thank you for your continued support,
