New Match Announcement: $10,000 |
John — For many people 2022 has been a welcome return to normal. But for many nannies, housecleaners, and care workers: normal is a nightmare.
Normal for domestic workers is often being exploited and denied overtime pay, it’s LEGAL sexual harassment when they show up at someone’s house, it’s having to choose between looking after a sick loved one and putting food on the table.
For 15 years we’ve been at the forefront, fighting to fix these injustices. And now with a landmark bill before Congress, massive support all across the country, and dozens of state initiatives, we are closer than ever to creating a new normal.
We are an alliance representing close to 2.2 million domestic workers who are Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, and immigrants, and together we plan to continue building out our vision of a just and equitable society and economy.
We’ve created "The Future is Us" Fund to ensure we can make critical investments in domestic worker leadership – building our base into a leaderful movement from which all our other strategies stem.
Worker leaders in the field will be able to draw upon "The Future is Us" Fund to support base building, participation in local, state, and national campaigns, workforce development, leadership development, and more.
We only have this matching opportunity until midnight September 15 to fill "The Future is Us" Fund and announce the result to all our members.
Invest in domestic workers and help sustain our movement to reimagine a future that we all deserve.
In gratitude,
Kaylyn Kvochak, Senior Development Director
