President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law and Sherrod wrote an op-ed about what this historic legislation will mean for Ohioans and Americans around the country.
“For the first time in years, we are standing up to three of the most powerful special interests in Washington. We’re taking on Big Pharma to lower seniors’ drug prices, we’re taking on Big Oil to lower energy prices, create Ohio jobs, and grow new industries, and we’re taking on Wall Street to rein in stock buybacks that reward CEOs at the expense of workers”
This is what happens when you put workers first and make more in America: U.S. companies are on track to bring back nearly 350,000 jobs from overseas -- the highest number in at least a decade.
In Ohio, there are over 1.7 million federal student loan borrowers who owe nearly $35,000 on average. For too long, this exorbitant debt has held back generations of Americans from seeing their hard work pay off. President Biden announced a plan that would deliver up to $20,000 of relief for borrowers, giving them the chance to start families, buy homes, and open businesses.
After Sherrod fought to get the PACT Act -- named after Central Ohio veteran Heath Robinson, who passed away in 2020 from cancer resulting from toxic exposure -- through Congress, President Biden signed it into law. This measure will expand critical health care to over 3.5 million veterans.
State of the Race(s) in Ohio
OH-SEN UPDATE: With about two months to go until Election Day and polls showing Tim Ryan and J.D. Vance neck and neck, Washington Republicans are going all in on the Ohio Senate race. The NRSC and a Mitch McConnell-affiliated super PAC are spending a combined $29 MILLION on ads. We need to make sure Tim has the resources to keep up.
Between the Inflation Reduction Act’s provisions to create jobs in clean-energy production and development and the CHIPS Act’s measures to create U.S. manufacturing jobs, Democrats are delivering for working-class Americans. Sherrod wrote about efforts to put working people first in an op-ed for the American Prospect. Will you share it on social media?
“Hard work doesn’t pay off... All these Americans… wonder if things will ever get better. They think politicians have forgotten them.”
