John, last week, Democrats scored an upset victory when Mary Peltola defeated her Republican opponents in the race for a vacant House seat in Alaska.

The tides are turning — as evidenced by the special election results in a seat Republicans have held for nearly half a century.

First, voters firmly rejected a referendum that would have removed the constitutional right to abortion in Kansas.

Then, Democrats defeated anti-abortion Republicans in special elections in New York and Alaska.

Now, we have to prepare to defend abortion rights here in California, where it’s on the ballot in November.
