John,
Right now, with inflation at its highest in decades, many families are feeling the strain at the grocery store and at gas stations. Prices for consumer goods and housing are skyrocketing, while wages aren’t keeping up and many of the COVID economic relief programs have expired.
The wealth gap is widening to levels never seen before and it’s exacerbating racial disparities. With so much economic precarity, where do we go from here? We’re about to receive new data to help us answer that question.
Join us this Thursday, September 8 at 1:30PM ET / 10:30AM PT, for “Using Census and Other Data to Track Poverty, Hardship and the Impact of Aid During a Tumultuous Time”, and find out how to access this critical data. The webinar will be closed-captioned.

The Census Bureau will release new poverty, income and health insurance data on September 13-15. This data will cover the pandemic year of 2021 and will help us answer questions such as: how did people fare during the second year of the pandemic, and what differences were there by age, race/ethnicity, and income? Did the expanded Child Tax Credit and other pandemic aid help? And while the survey data to be released in September only covers 2021, what other data is available to tell us about what is happening now?
This webinar will show you how to find and use the new 2021 Census national, state, and local data, how to make use of newer data showing changes in poverty by month, and how many were unable to afford enough food or struggled to pay regular expenses through August of this year.
You’ll get an expert economic assessment about where we are now, and learn how to use all the available information―some specific to your state or locality―to make the case for investments to reduce racial disparities and to help people with low incomes get ahead.
In addition to our Executive Director, Deborah Weinstein, the webinar will feature experts such as Shailly Barnes, Policy Director from the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights and Social Justice, Allison Bovell-Ammon, Director of Policy Strategy at Children’s HealthWatch, Elise Gould, Senior Economist at the Economic Policy Institute, Megan Curran, Policy Director at the Center on Poverty & Social Policy at Columbia University, and will be moderated by Indivar Dutta-Gupta, the President & Executive Director of the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP).
Click here to register now. All registrants will get the live link, with opportunities to ask questions, and will also get the recording of the webinar, slides, and follow-up resources.
We’re in a pivotal moment. Now, more than ever, we must come together to do all we can to ensure an equitable and fair society for all.
Thank you for all you do,
