DES business diversity manager honored by Tabor 100
Shana Barehand, ?business diversity and outreach manager of Enterprise Services? Contracts and Procurement Division (C&P), is being honored for her work to increase contracting equity in Washington state.
Tabor 100, a diverse business advocacy group, selected Barehand for its 2022 Excellence in Equity and Inclusion Award. Each year, Tabor gives several Crystal Eagle Awards to recognize the leadership of people who work to create partnerships across cultural, economic, social, political, geographic?or educational boundaries.
Barehand manages the Procurement Inclusion and Equity (PIE) program for C&P. Her work has resulted in significant progress in contracting equity, which helps strengthen the economy across Washington communities.
?Shana is a changemaker,? said DES Director Tara C. Smith. ?She has proven over and over that she is dedicated to improving contract opportunities for small and diverse businesses. Her out-of-the box thinking and strategic planning has helped remove barriers at DES and statewide. Shana?s continued success will create a legacy in Washington state.?
Barehand will be recognized at Tabor?s annual gala Sept. 24.
PORTABLE TOILETS
Info-sharing meeting set for new solicitation
Enterprise Services is hoping to hear from representatives of public entities with experience on contracts for portable toilets, washing stations and shower rentals.
An informal information-sharing meeting is set for 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at which DES will discuss its goals for Solicitation 18122 (find it under Current and Future Bid Opportunities on the DES website). DES would like to hear from anyone ? in the meeting or by e-mail ? who has solicited or managed contracts for these public sanitation services.

Enterprise Services is proceeding with statewide outreach for this brand new contracting opportunity in hopes of identifying and contacting a broad pool of potential vendors.

Enterprise Services is creating a solicitation for a new contract for vehicle lifts and garage-associated equipment and wants to know what you think.
Contract 08921 will replace expiring Contract?05316.
DES is asking current customers to share their perspectives about vehicle lifts on the?Vendor & Contract Performance Feedback form. This information will be used to help DES understand how organizations used this contract, their experiences with the current contractors, and how to improve the new contract.

AMBULANCES
Take the survey about Sourcewell contract
Enterprise Services is seeking customer feedback on a Sourcewell contract for ambulances and emergency vehicles.
The scope of the contract includes new Type I, II, III and IV ambulances, as well as ambulance remounts and refurbishing. The new solicitation number is 19322 and can be found on the Current and Future Bid Opportunities page.
DES has created a survey to gather feedback from potential purchasers, who are invited to fill it out before Sept. 16.

Price increase for vendor Contech
Contech Engineered Solutions has been approved for a price increase effective September 1 on Contract 06819 for prefabricated and modular bridges.

RFID
Sign on to sourcing team on survey
Enterprise Services is posting a ?survey to gather information about a new statewide contract for radio frequency identification (RFID) goods and services.
RFID is a proven technology useful for inventory tracking, security and other uses. The survey link will remain open through Sept. 23.
DES invites contract users to join a sourcing team to help ensure their agency needs are met in the next contract. Opt in to the sourcing team by indicating on the survey.

POLICY UPDATE
DES adjusts mercury policy with recodified laws
The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) has made technical changes to POL-DES-70A.230-00: Nonmercury-Added Products Purchasing Preference, effective Aug. 1.
The update, which did not change the substance or function of anything in the policy, reflects recodified laws that apply to the policy. DES also combined all supporting documents into one document (PDF).
The policy explains the requirement in RCW 70A.230.060 to give priority to purchasing products that contain no mercury when doing competitive procurements. Find more information about enterprise procurement policies on the DES website.
