Dear John,

I write today in the spirit of gratitude for a tremendous year, thanks to your support.

Our national community of professors has grown to nearly 1,000 scholars. Our program for high school teachers has expanded to five states. Our faculty partners have taught some 23,000 courses in American Ideas and institutions to undergraduates at more than 300 colleges and universities nationwide.

And in September of this year, the one millionth student took a class taught by a JMC faculty partner. That’s one million students who have taken a class with professors who are excited about teaching the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the writings of our Founders and those thinkers who influenced them.

But now is not the time to rest on our laurels. As President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

The freedoms enumerated in our Declaration and guaranteed in our Constitution—the freedoms that are the foundation of our country—are in serious danger because too many U.S. colleges and universities are not giving them a fair hearing.

That’s why your support of the Jack Miller Center is so important. We conduct programs and support professors who are committed to helping students understand the Founding principles of our country… and who are ensuring those principles endure for many generations to come.

There are nearly 20 million students attending our nation's colleges and universities—and we believe every single one needs to learn America’s founding principles and history before they graduate.
