This past weekend we witnessed what happens when a radical right-wing
judge is appointed by an even more radical deranged MAGA President. By
now, you already know what we’re talking about but there’s always more
to the story. The radical right-wing Federalist Society holds values and
ideologies that are vastly different from the rest of America, yet this
small group of very powerful people control our judicial system.
 
Let us ask you this question: do you think Trump, or even Bush Jr., had
any idea of what makes a good federal judge? Do you think they studied
their cases, their writings, and rulings? Nope. What they did was they
took a piece of paper from the Federalist Society of names that they
hand selected, did as they were told and nominated from that list. What
has happened in our country is nothing short of tragic. Our judicial
branch of government has been violated and is more corrupt than anyone
could imagine.
 
We have long called for judicial reform, including no more lifetime
appointees. No more judges above reproach, no more meetings and
vacations for SCOTUS justices with lobbyists and special interest groups
just days before they appear in court. That’s not an exaggeration,
either.
 
Consider that the federal judge with jurisdiction over Mar-A-Lago agreed
to appoint a special master to oversee the documents seized from the
property, as well as impede the DOJ by restricting their ability to
review documents as a part of their criminal investigation. This
particular Judge, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in West Palm Beach,
FL, was appointed by Trump himself. The irony is not lost on all of us.
Here’s where things get even more nauseating: if the DOJ lawyers appeal
this ruling to a higher court, take a guess which of the SCOTUS justices
overseas Florida.
 
None other than Justice Clarence Thomas. The entire system is rigged and
that didn’t happen overnight. It was decades of preparation by far-right
Republicans. It’s impossible to fix it all immediately, but we need to
stir up some noise, and make a racket. We need to elect Democrats to
Congress to hold them accountable, to call for public hearings, and to
pass laws that will reform our judicial branch of government.
 
Now is the time for all of us to dig deep and do everything we can to
help fight back and preserve our democracy. Chip in what you can, but
also share the word with your family and friends. Saving this country
cannot be done alone – we have to work together. Our country's democracy
is at stake.
