I hope you enjoyed a restful Labor Day, John!
We all owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the pioneers of the labor movement over a century ago – and to the folks who continue to fight for safe working conditions, fair hours, and livable wages today.
Since Labor Day was first recognized as a federal holiday in 1894, we’ve come a long way.
But too many Americans still face discrimination, poor wages, and dangerous conditions in their workplaces. Too many folks work multiple jobs just to afford rent, medical care, and food.
We can, and must, do better.
I’m proud to have an A+ rating from AFL-CIO, which represents America’s unions. In Congress, I helped to pass a permanent expanded Child Tax Credit, which will uplift millions of working families.
And I’ll continue to fight so that every working American, regardless of gender, race, or ability, is paid fairly.
So I hope each and every one of you had the chance to enjoy some quality time, delicious food, and relaxation yesterday. Today, will you join me in fighting for the rights of working families across our nation?
