Georgia’s voter purge is an assault on democracy. The Republican Secretary of State canceled more than 300,000 registrations this week, and over 120,000 of them are for people who simply haven’t voted since before 2012.

That means a person who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 but hasn’t voted since has now been kicked off the voter rolls by Republicans. That’s wrong. It’s anti-democratic. And, Republicans are doing it because fewer people voting helps them win.
What this voter purge tells us is that our civil rights matter less to Republicans than politicians being able to hold onto their power.
The only way we fix this is with new leadership in the U.S. Senate to restore the Voting Rights Act. Teresa’s campaign has a path to victory here in Georgia if we are willing to act collectively to win this critical election.
