“What they are doing at Kirkwood is amazing,” Scott Walker, LifeWise president and CEO, said. Walker commented on how the Kirkwood United Methodist Church located in an affluent area of Kirkwood is being very intentional about stepping up and trying to help disadvantaged people in their community. During the pandemic, Kirkwood United Methodist Church was involved in many local mission activities, like food giveaways, and had a COVID-19 fund to help people with rent and utilities. By 1850 that number grew exponentially to 13,305 Methodist congregations, and one in three people identified as Methodist. Today we are nowhere near that. What changed? Rev. Dr. Ken Nash shares practical tips on the concept of multiplication and the “art of reproducing yourself” including the simple and effective FAN method.

If you asked most of the people in your congregation, it is very likely that they would say that they desire to grow closer to Christ. But, if you asked them to outline how they plan on doing that, you would most likely be met with silence. If you want to help your congregants become more Christ-like, help them begin by taking spiritual disciplines more seriously.
