Dear John,
Hope your August went well! We at Momentum Education have been busy and are excited to share our progress.
Firstly, we held our annual Scholarship Event where we allocated 35 scholarships to first-generation, low-income students attending colleges both within Texas and all across the country. All of our scholarships are renewable for up to four years and come with mentorship throughout college. We believe this financial support coupled with the mentorship will ensure students succeed.
Secondly, we are focused on ensuring every single student receives the individualized support they need. While this, of course, includes mentorship, it also includes wraparound services. This month, a college student notified us that she was interested in learning about becoming a nurse anesthetist. We connected her with a nurse anesthetist who had a conversation with the student to ensure she understood the pathway to enter nursing. This level of personal support is the hallmark of Momentum Education, and we will maintain this level of service as we continue to mentor more and more students.
Finally, we are now providing monthly mentorship and supplemental support services (including Essay and Resume feedback, connections to scholarships, and exposure to various careers) to 385 students.

Henry Ezeadi

Henry Ezeadi is a current student attending the DeBakey High School for Health Professions and will be a first-generation college student. Upon graduation, Henry hopes to attend an institution that will allow him to major in Public Health because he wants to change the access to healthcare in America. When asked about his experience with Momentum, Henry stated, "I am grateful for Momentum because they have exposed me to various careers through their Instagram Takeovers as well as their conferences. My mentor has helped me stay on top of my college application goals." We are so excited to see what you accomplish, thank you Henry!

Jarely Mendez
University of Houston '24

Jarely Mendez is a student at the University of Houston pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Geology. Jarely has been a part of Momentum Education since her senior year of high school! When asked about her experience with the program, Jarely shared that "these past years, Momentum has helped me received mentorship, scholarships, and network with Geoscience professionals." This summer she worked on a research project at the U.S. Department of National Energy Technology Laboratory. Upon graduation, Jarely plans on pursuing a career in energy and hopes to mentor students who are interested in STEM. Thank you, Jarely, we are so excited to continue to be a part of your success!

We are excited to recognize Olivia Fowler as our Team Member of the Month! Olivia is a sophomore from the University of Chicago studying Psychology and Economics. She has been interning with us this summer! Olivia recently shared that, "I started working as an intern at Momentum this past summer and have absolutely loved my time here. I am passionate about what our organization does, specifically increasing equal access to education, and am so happy to be a part of it."
