Hi John,
I’d like to introduce myself: I’m Jennie Murray, the National Immigration Forum’s incoming President and CEO. I am humbled and delighted to lead the Forum, an organization that holds a special place in my heart.
Some of you may not know this, but I used to work at the Forum as the Vice President
of Integration Programs. During my time, I designed and implemented the New American Workforce, the Corporate Roundtable for the New American Workforce and English at Work. These programs help advance our country and economy by bolstering the skills and career pathway potential of immigrant workers, meeting important business operational needs.
Now, I am pleased to lead the Forum in a new capacity.
I am excited to continue leading the Forum in ensuring that lawmakers are shown the examples we see of effective immigration policies and programs and hear the voices asking for change while lifting up solutions, so we can truly see change. Change that represents who we really are — a nation of welcome.
We already know millions of Americans support good, humane and sensible immigration policies. We see this in our churches and places of worship, workplaces and schools; we see neighbors, co-workers and parishioners,
native born and newcomer, living daily life as one community.
And yet, we know that our out-of-date immigration system does not always aid us in ensuring our communities thrive as we include and welcome newcomers. We need practical solutions. Our policies need to reflect our realities and our values.
John, we have an incredible opportunity to work towards better, practical solutions if we work together – and I am ready to do just that. I hope you will join me. If you’d like to stay in touch and get the latest on our work, follow me on Twitter @JennieMurrayK.
Thank you,
Jennie Murray Incoming President
and CEO National Immigration Forum
