John,
The cost of pursuing higher education has skyrocketed in recent decades, leading more than half of today’s college graduates to leave school with debt.
But now, millions of Americans with student loan debt can breathe a sigh of relief. I applaud President Biden’s decision to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt – finally, this long-awaited relief will fundamentally change lives.
So many have shouldered the weight of student loan debt for too long – many even unable to keep up with interest payments to chip away at the principal owed, leaving them deeper in debt with no end in sight.
20 million Americans will have their student debt forgiven thanks to President Biden’s action – but there are another 20 million who will still be burdened with their student loans. This is no doubt a step in the right direction, but we must keep building on this work.
We must come together and call for further relief to borrowers everywhere. Add your name right away.
Americans shouldn’t have to decide between obtaining a college education and a secure financial future.
The prospect of taking on a crushing amount of debt post-graduation is no doubt a deterrent for many Americans considering higher education. And for those who do take on student loans, the debt that follows them acts as a barrier to other long-term financial goals, like buying a home or saving for a family.
President Biden’s plan to cancel millions’ student debt and enact much-needed changes to loan repayment systems has been a long time coming. But we can’t stop now.
Millions of Americans still need relief. Add your name to stand with me and call for additional loan forgiveness!
Thanks for making your voice heard.
Jonathan
