Dear Michigander,?

Every Michigan woman deserves to be able to make decisions about her body, including when and if to start a family. Full stop. That's why I'm continuing my efforts to protect reproductive rights in Michigan and ensure women have control over their own bodies.?

In May, I issued an executive directive [ [link removed] ] instructing state departments to identify and assess potential opportunities to increase protections for reproductive health care. Last week, I celebrated?the decision from the Department of Management, Technology, and Budget (DTMB) to guarantee access to generic, prescription oral medication for 200,000 more Michiganders [ [link removed] ] starting September 1. In the last year, hundreds of requests for birth control coverage were denied, preventing those who get coverage from MPSERS plans ? like a retired teacher?s daughter ? from accessing the medication they need. This decision ensures more Michiganders will have guaranteed access to birth control.?

I also sent a letter [ [link removed] ] last week to the leaders of Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft ? five of the world?s biggest tech companies ? requesting they take immediate action to protect data privacy. As extremists try to weaponize health data to go after women seeking reproductive health care and prosecute nurses and doctors for doing their jobs, we need more transparency about who is getting access to our data. I am calling on these big tech companies to prioritize protecting users and their digital privacy.?

We need to use every tool in our toolbox to ensure women have control over their own bodies and access to reproductive health care no matter where they live or who they are. As some politicians take steps to control women?s bodies, enacting extreme laws and restrictions on abortion and medication, I will fight like hell to protect reproductive freedom.?
