When disaster strikes, what financial tools actually help? Take our quiz below.
Without enough savings or financial tools, people can have the rug pulled out from under them for a variety of reasons—a flood, a lost job, a health emergency, or another unexpected crisis. As the effects of climate change become more pronounced, experts predict that the poorest (who are already the most vulnerable) will be most severely affected as natural disasters become more frequent and larger scale.

At IPA, we work with leading academics and implementing partners to discover if and how financial tools can help soften the blow for vulnerable families in the face of unexpected crises.

Which of the following financial tools have been found to be effective, at least in some contexts, for easing financial shocks on people living in poverty? (click on the correct answer)

Without evidence, decision-makers often have to guess the answers to questions like this. IPA works with researchers and our partners to generate evidence on what works, so organizations and governments can make informed decisions.
