Friend,
The race for Pennsylvania’s open U.S. Senate seat between Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and TV doctor Mehmet Oz has rightly attracted attention; however, the contest for governor in the commonwealth is equally important. The governor plays a pivotal role in the certification of presidential electors and, more importantly, will appoint the next Secretary of State who will oversee the 2024 election.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro is the Democratic nominee for governor. Trump and his MAGA extremists selected State Senator Doug Mastriano, a proponent of the Big Lie and participant in the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Pennsylvania provided over 360,000 men to the Union Army (more than any state except New York), but Doug Mastriano (at left) chose to dress as a Confederate soldier.

To safeguard the Constitution and maintain the rule of law in this country, it will be crucial to maximize turnout for pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot. This includes Philadelphia and surrounding suburban counties, as well as the Lehigh Valley, Pocono area, Upstate around Scranton, Harrisburg/Hershey, and the Allegheny region around Pittsburgh.
What Can I Do to Help Pennsylvania? Below you will find pointers to some meaningful actions with organizations in need of dedicated, democracy-loving volunteers like you — NOW.

As a volunteer with The Union, you’ll receive a national action email each week. Whether you live inside or outside the area for a particular race, there will always be actions for both situations.
We have about two months until the midterm elections. Zero time for hesitation. We are mobilizing our pro-democracy coalition across all 50 States. It will take all of us to ensure we have a democracy for ourselves and future generations of Americans.
Please forward this email to one friend today, ask them to stand together with us, and get them to join The Union. And follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Together,
The Union
