We’re down to just over 60 days until the general election, but there are many important dates that come before election day.
In-person early voting begins for some of our candidates in less than 45 days, and some states require voters to be registered up to a month before the election.
This is a friendly reminder to check your voter registration status NOW so you can vote in November wherever you are.
You can easily check your status on Vote.org [[link removed]] or visit your state’s Secretary of State website to check your registration status directly with state officials.
One of our team members did it, and confirmed her registration status in less than one minute thanks to Vote.org.

Celebrating Labor Day by fighting for workers
In honor of Labor Day today, we recognize the extraordinary work our candidates have done to fight for workers’ rights from Congress.

Most politicians pay lip service to unions, pandering for endorsements while cashing fat checks from the same corporate bosses that crush worker rights.
But BNC representatives actually SHOW UP for labor, time and time again.
From pushing for the PRO Act to showing up on the front lines, their advocacy has helped propel the modern labor movement forward.

Biden’s Big Speech
With most offices closed last week, it’s been a light news week for Congress. But the biggest buzz the last few days is all about President Biden’s speech in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia .
“Equality and democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise. So, tonight, I’ve come to this place where it all began to speak as plainly as I can to the nation about the threats we face, about the power we have in our own hands to meet these threats and about the incredible future that lies in front of us, if only we choose it. ”

In his speech, the president talked about the threats to our democracy, and made it clear that we are NOT powerless against those threats.
And he’s right.
We are not powerless against extremist, nationalistic Republicans. We are not powerless against the billionaires who dictate policy in Washington and hoard wealth while the planet burns and people starve. We are not powerless to stop the climate crisis.
We are the furthest thing from powerless. We the people are more powerful than we know – but we have to CHOOSE to fight for our future.

Take our survey on Student Loan forgiveness
The recent decision by the Biden administration to expand student loan forgiveness is a big deal, and it is proof that the progressive movement is driving policy in D.C. But we need to keep the pressure on Congress and President Biden to finish the job and forgive ALL student debt.
