Today is the Global Day of Action for the Amazon, and urgent action is needed because the rainforest is in a state of emergency and at a tipping point due to attacks on the rights, lives, and territories of Indigenous and forest peoples. A new report released today led by the Coordinating Body of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA) states that the protection of 80% of the Amazon by 2025 remains feasible and that there is still time to prevent its destruction. But we have no time to waste.

So we’re inviting you to join the call to action from Indigenous Earth Defenders for the Global Day of Action for the Amazon!

JOIN THE GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION FOR THE AMAZON!

This day of action includes three important activities:

  1. Sign the Indigenous-led petition for the protection of 80% of the Amazon by 2025
  2. Share critical information about the devastating fires in the Amazon
  3. Create a video message demanding banks stop investing in Petroperú and prevent more oil drilling

On this Global Day of Action for the Amazon please visit our action center to #Act4Amazonia and join Indigenous Earth Defenders calling for immediate and urgent action to permanently protect the Amazon and our global climate.
