We can't back down from the fight. We cannot yield.

Deb Butler

John,

Next year, you’re going to hear the word “battleground” used quite a bit. And I might be biased, but no one does a political battle like North Carolinians. We’ve learned time and time again that we cannot back down, and we cannot yield from the fight.

When we do, tragic things happen. I was inspired to run for office during the battle against HB2, North Carolina’s notorious anti-LGBTQ “bathroom bill.” When this terrible bill was signed into law, we took to the streets and protested the egregious attacks against the trans community. Because of this one bill, our economy lost $400 million, harming North Carolina’s families and trans kids.

But despite the bill’s repeal and Governor Pat McCrory’s defeat, bigots around the country were emboldened to try again. In states like Texas, Virginia and Kansas. Bathroom bills cropped up in state legislatures around the country, creeping into legislative sessions like a bad virus.

The only defense against this type of infection? More winning LGBTQ candidates. As my colleagues and I run for reelection, we act as an essential firewall against bills like these. Will you stand with us and become a Victory Caucus Member today?

Victory Fund will endorse LGBTQ state legislative candidates in nearly every state this year. And the state legislators we elect in 2020 will do more than just defend against anti-LGBTQ legislation. They’ll fight to enact fair district maps, radically altering biased districts. They’ll fight for pro-equality legislation, pass bills ending conversion therapy, and propose non-discrimination laws to protect our community.

We have a choice, John. We can yield to the bigots and allow them to take our state legislatures from us. We can lose our hard-fought gains, giving up seats in swing states during an essential election cycle. Or we can fight back with everything we have and support candidates who won’t bow to bigotry.

The choice is yours. Make the right one – become a Victory Caucus Member today.

Thanks again for your support -

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
