** DNC Labor Council Chair Stuart Appelbaum issued the following statement celebrating Labor Day:
------------------------------------------------------------

"On Labor Day, we salute the contributions made by working people to build and maintain our nation. In these recent years, we must particularly recognize the contributions of essential workers who went to work every day throughout the pandemic - despite their fears and the real dangers they faced. Without their efforts, society would not have survived.

On this day, we must recommit ourselves as well to valuing the dignity of all work and to reflect on the work we have ahead to build a safer and fairer workplace.

We thank President Biden and Vice President Harris, who have been tireless advocates for labor. The Biden-Harris administration is the most pro-union administration in American history. As Democrats, we will continue to fight for passage of the PRO Act and to protect the right of any worker to unionize. This Labor Day, we celebrate our commitment to working people and dedicate ourselves to fighting with them on their behalf."
