Hello —

I hope you and your loved ones are able to take some time this weekend to relax and celebrate Labor Day.

Today, I’m giving thanks to the workers and organizers who lead the labor movement. Their tireless efforts have led to the 8-hour workday and safer working conditions — and many of the things we take for granted, like weekends, lunch breaks, minimum wage and child labor laws, and so much more.

As a state legislator during the Great Recession, I advocated for an earned income tax credit aimed at returning tax dollars to working families, supported raising the minimum wage, and sponsored paid sick leave legislation. As a member of Congress, I voted to pass the PRO Act in the House to protect workers’ rights nationwide and the bipartisan infrastructure bill to create more good paying jobs.

Whether it’s passing legislation to guarantee paid sick leave, advocating to increase wages, enhancing affordable healthcare in Congress, or protecting the right to organize, I’ll never stop fighting to support the hardworking people of North Carolina.

Thanks for supporting me in that fight. Let’s get to work.
