Happy Labor Day, team!
I want to wish you what is hopefully a relaxing and happy Labor Day. I also want to take a moment to say thank you to the labor movement — which we can thank for the eight-hour workday, weekends, overtime, safer workplaces, Social Security, Medicare, and so much more.
Team, today is about far more than honoring those who fought for worker's rights for future generations. It's also about recognizing the ensuing fight for our workers today, many of whom continue to push for safe and fair work environments.
The past few years have reminded us just how essential our essential workers are. So today, and every day, I pledge to have workers' backs because, without them, we couldn't have kept our hospitals, grocery stores, public transportation, sanitation facilities, and so many other services up and running.
With that in mind, we must continue the fight for working people. I'm proud to have been a co-sponsor of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, and I'm fighting in Congress for a higher national minimum wage, paid family leave, stronger support for those in the care economy, and expanded affordable health care.
I'm not done fighting for an economy that works for all of us and protects the rights of workers. This Labor Day, I hope you'll join me in committing to this fight.
