Hi friend, On this Labor Day, it’s important we remember the reason we celebrate, so I want to take a moment to recognize our unions and workers across Central and Southern Illinois. Labor Day is a recognition of the hard-working men and women that built our country, as well as a chance to appreciate everything we have because of the labor movement. This is deeply personal for me. You see, I’m not a politician. I’m a labor activist. I’ve spent my entire adult life fighting to get hardworking people the pay and workplace safety conditions they deserve. I’m proud to have worked on behalf of firefighters, first responders, meatpackers, and grocery store workers to ensure they have the power to collectively bargain for better wages, benefits, and safer working conditions. Union jobs are the backbone of the middle class and are essential to strong and thriving communities. I’m running for Congress so people in Central and Southern Illinois will have someone that will stand up for them and be their champion. Let’s support these hardworking people by boosting job training programs, investing in the middle class, and protecting the right to collective bargaining. Today and every day, I hope you’ll join me in standing up for organized labor and protecting the hardworking families of Illinois. Thank you, Nikki
