Our story in Western Pennsylvania is a story of union strength. From
steelworkers to health care workers, from teachers to carpenters,
Starbucks baristas, and Amazon workers — organized labor is at the heart
of our communities.
But we didn’t get here by accident, it took hard work and solidarity.
During Summer's tenure in the Pennsylvania State House, she has fought
alongside workers for a robust labor movement where everyone has access to
a safe workplace, full union protections, and better wages.
The future of progressive policies depends on a strong labor movement and

In 2022, we’ve seen a wave of organized movements determined to make sure
that workers' voices are not silenced, and that they have a direct say in
their labor conditions. The first Starbucks to unionize in PA was right
here in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a union town but only if we fight back
against corporate powers by growing the labor movement not only in Western
PA, but also across the country. From passing the PRO Act to raising
wages, to ensuring every worker has a union.
