Happy Labor Day! Let’s continue the fight for workers’ rights.
In Ohio, the labor movement has endlessly worked to advance the rights of working people. Through collective bargaining and support for strong labor laws, we’ve secured higher wages, better benefits, and real investment in our employees.
Shontel Brown and our Democratic majority in Congress are working to strengthen our pro-worker, pro-union policies to ensure the workplace environment fits our needs. In the last few months, we’ve seen job growth accelerate in all industries and passed the Inflation Reduction Act, lowering costs for American families, reducing the deficit, and ensuring corporations pay their fair share in taxes.
But, have no doubt, John, the labor movement is on the ballot this November. Kevin McCarthy has all but guaranteed that if Republicans take control of the House, the GOP's first order of business will be to target pro-worker and pro-union policies. We won’t stand by and let that happen.
Strong, healthy unions are essential to empowering everyday, hard-working Americans and ensuring that workers’ rights continue to be advanced. The power of the people is in our collective strength.
As a Cuyahoga County Council member and Chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, Shontel Brown has spent the last decade serving the people of Ohio and building coalitions. Now, as the Congresswoman for Ohio’s 11th District, she will fight for affordable quality health care, jobs that pay fair wages, a strong public education system, and equity and justice for all. Will you join her and be the change we need?
