Dear AFSCME Family —
I hope this Labor Day you’re spending time with family and friends and enjoying the last days of summer.
We have a lot to be thankful for this holiday. The labor movement is growing stronger and more vibrant every day. Workers in both the public and private sectors, across a diverse range of industries, are finding their union voice. From the galleries of America’s most prominent museums to the soccer field and beyond, newly organized workers are discovering the power of the union difference.
At the same time, President Joe Biden and Congress are delivering for working families. For the first time in a long time, we have elected leaders in Washington who understand the challenges we face and are committed to making things better.
And while our rights are still being threatened, we have reason to feel optimistic about our future.
Please take a moment to read an op-ed I published today in Newsweek that describes how the hard work we’ve put forth is paying huge dividends for working families and why we must stay committed to this fight.
Thank you for all you do for America’s communities.
In solidarity,
Lee Saunders
AFSCME President
