“No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”
- Martin Luther King Jr.

When you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work -- all people.
That’s what Labor Day is all about. It’s about honoring the dignity of all work -- whether you punch a clock or swipe a badge; whether you’re raising children or caring for an aging parent; no matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of work you do.
That’s what I strive to do every day in the Senate on behalf of Ohio workers. We’re putting working people first in every policy. You can see it in legislation like the CHIPS Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, which will boost U.S. manufacturing and create good-paying jobs that can’t be shipped overseas -- in Ohio and across the country. And they mean that Wall Street -- not working people -- will begin to pay a bit more of their fair share.
But this fight isn’t over. Far from it.
More American workers today want to join unions, but corporations are crushing their workers’ efforts. We’re seeing it happen at places like Starbucks and Amazon.
That’s why we need to pass the PRO Act and protect workers’ right to join a union and fight for stronger wages, benefits, and working conditions.
Our fight isn’t over until every American is paid the living wage they’ve earned. Until everyone can afford health care and child care and a secure retirement. Until everyone has power over their schedules and their careers and their lives. Until everyone can find a good job in their hometown.
Today, I want to thank workers in Ohio and across the country for all you do. I’m committed, today and every day, to fighting for you.
With gratitude,
Sherrod
