It's Labor Day, John.

Up until the 19th century, there were little to no protections established to keep America’s workers safe from dangerous working conditions.

It's thanks to the courage and dedication of labor unions that the tide changed and the workplace became safer for everyone. The labor movement brought us the 40-hour work week, lunch breaks, paid overtime, child labor laws, and so much more.

Today is the day that we say thank you to these labor heroes. We reflect on how far we've come and the distance we still have to go.

As we rebuild from the pandemic and combat inflation, we must strive to do more to improve working conditions and strengthen benefits for all our workers.

This Labor Day, I promise to continue working in Congress to protect our workers, improve labor conditions, and reduce costs for their families.
