This changes everything. Months ago, when we started, our work to defend democracy felt daunting. We were up against MAGA extremists with a very loud voice and strong support. Thursday night, President Biden called on all Americans to join the fight to defend democracy. He has identified and called out MAGA extremists as enemies of democracy. He made The Union’s mission America’s mission.
President Biden identified the threat to democracy and called on Republicans, Democrats and Independents (sound familiar?) to join together to defend democracy and save America’s future. Yet, media pundits ignored the point of his speech and questioned whether it was uniting or divisive. There is no nuance here. There are only two sides in this story. You are either pro-American democracy or you are with the MAGA extremists.
