“I am very proud”

For the last couple of years Julian has worked in the local basketball stadium each and every Saturday. And now that he has finished school he is much better prepared “to get a job during the week like Mum and Dad”. You can tell from that awesome smile how much he loves his work!

Julian’s story is good example of what’s possible with the right support from the NDIS. What’s possible when the NDIS works the way it should.

But right now it’s not working for too many people. But we know that can change – if we keep the pressure on.

That’s why today we’re launching our new storytelling tool - Tipping the Balance [[link removed]]

We want to show our pollies how important it is that the NDIS works for everyone who needs it.

We want to hear from everyone – what’s working for you, what’s not and what needs to change.

We want to hear your story about the NDIS – the good and the not-so-good.

Both are important to show our politicians why they need to roll up their sleeves and get the NDIS working the way we all want it to. The way we all need it to.

If you send us a quick NDIS story [[link removed]] like Julian’s, we’ll post it on our website.

We only need a couple of paragraphs:

You could tell us what the NDIS has funded that made a difference to your life .

Or maybe what you can now do that you couldn’t before the NDIS.

Or what interesting and different things you have been able to do with help from the NDIS.

And if the NDIS is not working for you we want to know more about that too. Tell us what has gone wrong for you – and what you think needs to be done to fix it.

Finally, we also want to wish you all the best for this holiday season and say a very BIG thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done this year.

It’s been a huge year for Every Australian Counts, with Make it Work forums across the country, a national day of action, an election campaign, four inquiries, new ministers, and a new NDIS CEO!

Thank you to everyone who’s been involved in making submissions, commenting on social media and getting behind Every Australian Counts.

The NDIS is still far from working the way we want it to but we have had some great wins that will really make a difference.

But we know we are not there yet - so we promise we have much more planned for next year. We won’t stop and we know you won’t either.
