Hey friends – I’ve been an avid cyclist for a long time, but last month, I went on one of my favorite bike rides ever.

After attending a community event in Bridgeport, I rode across almost the entire length of CT-04, all the way to Greenwich. Best of all, I biked along the coast and through some of my favorite places in the district, like Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

I know there aren’t too many Congressmembers showing up to events in cycling shirts, but when Connecticut has such a vast network of parks and roads for cycling, well, I couldn’t help myself.

This wasn’t even my longest Connecticut bike ride! Last year, I rode over 90 miles across the state to support the bipartisan infrastructure bill, an experience I’ll never forget. And when we did get the Inflation Reduction Act passed and invested billions into American infrastructure, I felt like biking those 90 miles again out of sheer joy.

So why do I love riding my bike dozens of miles at a time? While I enjoy the activity and the exercise, I think it also highlights the importance of investing in American infrastructure.

I think most of us agree – whether it’s roads, bridges, sidewalks, or trains, a lot of our infrastructure needs improvement. And no matter how you get where you need to go, everyone – cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians – should be able to get to their destination safely and efficiently.

Thanks for reading this ode to my love of cycling, and if you’re able, you can chip in to my re-election campaign here to help me continue advocating for American infrastructure.
