John,

In response to the millions of dollars of attack ads the GOP is launching against Josh, I want to give you an in-depth explainer on how we’re fighting back with our TV ads. By the time you’re done with this email, I hope you’ll chip in $25 to help us keep our ads on the air!

Josh says it all the time - we have to meet voters where they are. That means knocking on neighbors’ doors, shaking hands at taco trucks, and yes, advertising to families as they watch America’s Got Talent. We know TV ads work (and clearly the Republicans know it too), however there are real challenges with getting them up on air.

Our first challenge was to get the TV ads filmed with the right message. We had to do this incredibly quickly after we saw we were tied in the public poll. Thanks to your help (and our speedy team) the ads are filmed and the first one is up on air as we speak!

However, because we’re going up on TV so early, the next stage of this process looks incredibly daunting. Our ads play in the Sacramento media market, one of the most expensive places to run ads in the entire country. In the next few weeks, we have to lock in our budget with the TV channels. And we’re competing for the best price against not just the Republicans, but also other advertisers who want to sell their products.

Stick with me here - we’re moving into some math. It costs $565 to earn 1 point on TV (or $252,000 for 500 points), which is how we track our penetration levels. In other words, we want to buy as much ad space as we can afford to earn more “points” than the Republicans.

What this means is that we need to know now how much money we can put behind our ads, and if we don’t have enough resources, Republicans will be able to buy more points than us simply by putting more money down early.

We extended our deadline to midnight tonight - and it’s incredibly important we reach our goal because it’s going to determine how much we can put towards TV ads in the coming weeks.

So, can you please send in a generous donation right now to help us keep Josh’s ads on the air at a higher frequency than the GOP Super PACs?

Remember, Josh doesn’t take a single dime or corporate PAC money so we can’t keep up with GOP spending without your support.
