Republicans are once again assaulting democracy due to Sarah Palin losing Alaska's first election with the state's new system of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV).

MAGA cons like Senator Tom Cotton are saying Palin would have won if only people didn't have RCV and couldn't vote for someone they actually liked.

This is just like every other assault on Democracy for these semi-fascists. Just like January 6! Just like the Electoral College! Just like with their extreme gerrymandering! Just like their many assaults on voter accessibility!

Here are the facts: in 2020 the people of Alaska voted to switch to RCV. What RCV proved here is what we at No Dem Left Behind have been saying: quality Democrats can succeed in red states and districts when the playing field is level.

RCV makes it so bad candidates opposed by the majority can't win just because the field is crowded. With RCV you rank candidates in order of preference. If your 1st choice comes in last, your vote isn't meaningless. It gets to count towards your 2nd choice! This simple process repeats until one candidate has the true support of more than 50% of voters.

Why should a candidate win a 3-way race with 34% of the vote if the other 66% of the voters would have chosen another candidate if it had only been a 2-person race?

RCV guarantees a candidate that most people oppose can't win. So, of course, Republicans hate it.

They despise democracy, and they want to tear it down. So it makes sense that they would also hate RCV.

Decent Alaskan Republicans were more than willing to break with their party and support a good Democrat OVER a bad Republican.

These MAGA Republicans say they hate government, but what they hate is a government that functions. They love broken government.

RCV is a simple fix for broken government, so MAGA Republicans can't allow it!

Unfortunately, RCV is not available everywhere. In most states, candidates still play on the old, unleveled field that's littered with dark money and disinformation, but that doesn't mean we can't win! We just have to play harder!
