Eric Sorensen here -- meteorologist and Democratic nominee in IL-17. I hope you’re enjoying the Labor Day weekend so far. I’m drinking coffee on my deck -- enjoying the last few days of summer.

Our team recently got back poll results and it’s a dead heat -- all tied up at 46-46. I wanted to share a few key takeaways from our pollster:

67% of voters have a favorable opinion of my bio -- they like that I’m local and they like that I’m not a politician

I generate stronger “positive” feelings with independent voters than my opponent

Although my opponent leads in name recognition (48% to 34%), she’s more polarizing and has higher unfavorables than me
We have a real chance of victory in November. Our path to victory is pretty straightforward: I need to raise my name recognition, and that’s because there is a strong positive reaction to my background, especially amongst independents. Put simply: if we have the resources to communicate, we will win.
