President Biden's Address This week, President Biden stood at the birthplace of our country’s independence and proclaimed that the biggest threat to our nation is the half or more of Americans who disagree with him. It is shameful that instead of addressing a plan to tackle the inflation he unleashed, reduce the violent crime raging in Democrat cities, and end his open border policies, our President decided instead to pit neighbors against each other and broadcast his hatred for millions of American families who work hard and play by the rules. Just a week ago, he unilaterally announced he will force firefighters, construction workers, and truck drivers to pay off the college loans of wealthy lawyers and doctors, a gift to his affluent political base and a thumb in the eyes of Americans who paid off their loans or did not attend college. Here is a brief list of President Biden’s catastrophes: Food prices up 13% this year – the highest increase ever. The highest inflation in 40 years. Supporter of dangerous ‘defund the police’ and ‘catch and release’ criminal policies that have created the deadliest year in America in 20 years. Soaring energy prices that have caused 1 in 6 families to fall behind on utility bills. The highest gas prices ever recorded in U.S. history. The labelling of concerned parents at school board meetings as ‘terrorists’. An unlawful refusal to enforce our immigration laws – leading to record fentanyl deaths and millions pouring through our southern border. A botched departure from Afghanistan that cost 13 Americans their lives and left the radical Taliban with a massive stock of abandoned U.S. military hardware. Hiring of an additional 87,000 IRS agents to investigate middle class Americans – making the IRS larger than the FBI, State Department, Pentagon and Border Control combined. Biden’s extremist policies and dangerous rhetoric are designed to tear Americans apart and are making families poorer. Now, with an election approaching, and early voting just weeks away, he has launched a vicious rhetorical campaign like the one that inspired liberal extremists to attack pregnancy resource centers and plan to assassinate Supreme Court Justices. Biden promised a presidency of "unity." Since then, Biden has used the office to label those who didn't go along with his agenda as dangerous, semi-fascist, and reinstating a “Jim Crow era.” Instead of trying to bring our country together to solve the problems he has created, President Biden has chosen to divide, demean, and disparage his fellow Americans, simply because they disagree with his policies. No votes this week. The House will be in session on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. This week, I wrapped up the last week of Congress's annual August Recess by traveling to Lee and Phillips Counties. I met with the Mayor of Marianna, thanked him for his service to the city for the last 11 years, and wished him well in retirement. I also traveled to Helena-West Helena to visit Thrive to see the visual work they are doing around town, Delta Dirt Distillery to hear their origin story about a sweet potato farm passed down for generations, and Helena Harbor to see the Helms Fertilizer expansion.
