Donald Trump has been prone to criminality before, during, and now after
his presidency. And at every step of the way he has attempted to evade
accountability for his actions. That must end.

On August 8, the FBI executed a search warrant at Donald Trump's
Mar-a-Lago resort, as part of an investigation into the handling of
classified and top-secret documents he illegally removed from the White
House. Reporting since the search reveals that Trump had over 300
“classified” documents in his possession!

And this isn't the first time Trump may have broken the law as a result of
mishandling documents. While in office, he reportedly ripped up
documents, flushing them down the toilet and instructing White House
staffers to place them in "burn bags" earmarked for destruction.

Each of the acts above would constitute a violation of the Presidential
Records Act – a law passed during the Nixon administration requiring the
preservation of documents relating to a presidential administration
(because Nixon similarly sought to destroy documents at the end of his
term in office).

And yet, Trump continues to attack the DOJ and FBI for conducting the
investigation, making bogus claims that his handling of the documents is
all aboveboard and it’s all just another “witch hunt.”

[ [link removed] ]Unfortunately for Trump we are a nation of laws and the investigations
into his criminal behavior will continue – add your name now if you agree

Democracy demands accountability. The Justice Department can and should
act swiftly to hold Trump accountable for theft, destruction, and
concealment of public records as well as his other attacks on our
democracy and elections.

If they don't, it will tell future presidents that they can get away with
these crimes, too.
