SBA recently announced the return of ChallengeHer?a government contracting education initiative to help women-owned small businesses gain access to federal contracts and encourage participation in the SBA?s Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract program, alongside partners from Women Impacting Public Policy and American Express.
ChallengeHer events are free and provide matchmaking opportunities between women-owned businesses and government contractors and networking opportunities. It also provides world-class programming and training, facilitated by subject matter experts, on entering into and navigating the public sector supply chain. These sessions are offered in-person and online.

Get Inspired: Small Business Success Story
This Labor Day, we honor the strength and achievements of America?s workers like?Liz Sytsma of Wild Hand. Sytsma launched the yarn and fiber shop Wild Hand as a gathering spot for her community in Philadelphia. The business provides materials, education, and support for all fiber projects such as weaving, crochet, knitting, felting, and more.
When the pandemic hit, Sytsma reached out to her local Women?s Business Center, which provided personalized consulting and advice. The centers, along with SBA district offices and resource partners, help women entrepreneurs across America start, grow, expand, and recover their businesses. Sytsma also applied for pandemic relief, helping her keep workers on the payroll and the business running.

Tribal Consultations on 8(a) Business Development Program Regulations
SBA will hold a series of tribal consultation meetings and listening sessions in September and October to seek input on proposed revisions to 8(a) Business Development program regulations. SBA is requesting comments on how best to propose policies that would impact Alaska Native Corporations, tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations, and 8(a) Participants owned by these entities.
