Back to School After Shutdowns

Friend,

A recent report showed that school shutdowns have erased nearly two decades of progress in math and reading for 9-year old children. As school starts back up, we are reminded of the importance of in person learning. When schools were closed across Wisconsin and our country, the data now makes clear that children fell behind. I will continue to work to address the learning gap caused by school closures.

Please take my survey below and join my email list.

Was a child or grandchild in your family negatively impacted by school closures over the last two years?

Keeping Our Communities Safe

The DEA has announced a warning for brightly colored fentanyl pills being disguised to look like candy. These fentanyl pills are being disguised to attract children to use these drugs. This is yet another sign that the dangers of fentanyl continue to increase.

We must keep raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl. I recently hosted a roundtable discussing the dangers of fentanyl. Following the roundtable, I wrote an article on what the federal government should be doing to prevent this deadly substance from entering our communities.

Veteran of the Year Nominations Open

Nominations for the 2022 Veteran of the Year Award are Now open! Each year I am honored to recognize a veteran who has served our country and continues to serve our community. It is a great opportunity to highlight the service and commitment of an unsung hero in our state.

We need your help to honor a veteran who continues to selflessly devote their time to others. If you know a veteran deserving of this award in our community, visit my website for information

Last year, we honored Bob Boulden, a United States Marine Corps Sergeant (Ret.) as Wisconsin's First District Veteran of the Year. His distinguished career in the military and commitment to service to our veterans community is a shining example of leadership for all Americans. It was honored to present Bob the award as well as James Fialkowski and John Margowski with Congressional Recognitions of Service.
