Dear Friend,
I hope that you and your family are enjoying the final days of summer! As families across our district and the country enter back-to-school season, we continue to face the ramifications of Democrats’ lockdown policies that robbed many students of valuable education time. Reading and math scores sustained dramatic reductions, with children whose families have the least resources feeling the brunt of the negative impacts. Any family with school-age children has seen firsthand how the faulty Covid policies on masking, school shutdowns, and virtual learning have harmed our children.
A recent report from the Carolina Journal shows an overwhelming number of families are opting out of public school and choosing either private school or homeschooling. Congress should be funding students, not school system. My office will continue to work to support federal policies that promote educational freedom. If your school isn’t working for your child, you should be able to take those education dollars elsewhere.
ICYMI: The Fight Against CRT
Biden’s Department of Education continues to fund ludicrous ventures shoving Critical Race Theory (CRT) and the “equity” agenda into every facet of education and American life.
CRT teaches children to view themselves according to their racial group and has roots in Marxism and other hateful ideologies. It has no place in our children’s schools. I have been vocal on this issue and will continue to stand up for parents who do not want their children indoctrinated with this detestable ideology.
In May of 2021, I introduced legislation to block federal funding from being used to promote CRT. This summer, I introduced a resolution outlining the Marxist roots of CRT and recognizing the threat it poses.
As the school year begins, my office will continue to be vigilant on this issue. If you have concerns about what your children are being taught in school, know that you are not alone – and that my office is fighting for your interests.
Biden’s Disturbing Speech
Last night, with a stark red and black backdrop and U.S. Marines standing at attention, Biden gave a speech where he tarred millions of Americans as a threat to the soul of America, and to democracy itself. This is on the heels of him calling Republicans “semi-fascists.”
It’s fine to disagree with your opponents - but Biden instead decided to demonize 70+ million ordinary Americans for the simple act of voting against him.
For the Biden White House, there’s no limit to how many Americans they will blame to distract from their own problems. Today’s jobs report shows unemployment rising and wage growth slowing. Our border is wide open, allowing drug cartels and foreign adversaries to send threats into the country. Our cities are beset with rising crime. Our public education system is a mess. Biden’s answer? To blame regular Americans who are rightly skeptical of covid hysteria, who care about their children’s education, and who disagree with his Leftist policies.
It’s a disgrace - and I will continue to fight for border security, economic prosperity, parental rights, and Constitutional values no matter what insults the Dems sling.
I joined the Dan Bongino show today to discuss this and other recent developments – Listen here.
The DOJ Whistleblowers and Biden’s Censorship Crusade
Since I have been in Congress, we have received numerous reports from whistleblowers about the politicized nature of the Department of Justice (DOJ). After DOJ raided President Trump’s residence at Mar-A-Lago, we have seen even more whistleblowers exposing the internal corruption and weaponization of the Department. These whistleblowers are doing us a great service – and in response to their truth-telling, Attorney General Merrick Garland has now directed employees at the DOJ to cease any contact with members of Congress.
This week I sat down on Washington Watch to discuss the latest developments in this saga and the challenges we face in bringing the DOJ to heel.
WATCH: Rep. Dan Bishop on FBI Whistleblowers and Biden’s Hypocrisy
Also yesterday, a lawsuit from the Attorneys General of Missouri and Louisiana exposed, among other injustices, that Facebook and the Biden administration held regular calls to discuss what to censor on the platform.
The communications the AGs have obtained thus far identify at least 45 federal officials that communicated about “misinformation” and censorship with social media companies.
This appalling and censorious behavior exercised by the federal government exposes for all to see how Big Tech acts as an appendage of the Democrat Party. These communications implicate numerous agencies in this censorship enterprise, rising all the way to the highest levels of government.
You can read the full release, including the emails they obtained, below. My office is continuing to monitor this situation and pushing back against Big Tech censorship.
