They're all funded by the taxpayer through the rushed American Rescue Plan the Democrats passed in Congress on a party-line vote in March 2021. This inflationary $1.9 trillion bill was framed as a pandemic recovery package following the Democrat-forced lockdowns. Yet as expected, much of the money has been funneled toward wasteful “woke” projects that are completely unrelated to COVID-19 or economic recovery. Meanwhile, just 12% of the over $100 billion earmarked for elementary and secondary schools has been spent so far. The local SBA office in Houston still has many resources for local business owners outside of COVID relief. Many people are surprised to know that 99.5% of the businesses in the Houston area are small according to the SBA. The SBA helps these small businesses in 4 main areas: 1) Providing free business advising and mentoring, plus low cost workshops through SBA resource partners SCORE, Small Business Development Centers, and the Women's Business Center. 2) Helping small businesses gain access to federal contracts in a variety of ways, including the 8(a) Business Development Program. 3) Helping small businesses find the capital that is needed to start or grow. 4) Assisting businesses as well as homeowners, renters, and non-profits to recover after a declared natural disaster through direct low interest loans.
