Dear Texan,

I had a busy week back home in Texas, so I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what’s happening in the U.S. House and Texas’ 31st district.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • Visit to the Border
  • Service Academy Forum Coming Soon
  • Evaluating the Border with the Coast Guard
  • Discussion with the Temple Chamber Public Policy Committee

THE BRIEF:

  • According to new test results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress, nine-year-old students lost crucial skills in reading and math due to the forced remote learning, authoritarian mask mandates, and discriminatory vaccine mandates of the past two-and-a-half years.
  • Of 255 million adult Americans, 45 million have student loan debt. Student loan forgiveness demands that those 210 million Americans take on the debt of those 45 million borrowers.
  • President Biden announced that he is determined to ban assault weapons in this country.”

Congressman John Carter hears directly from Border Patrol agents about the situation at the border.

VISIT TO THE BORDER

Our Border Patrol agents are on the front lines every single day. Under this administration, they have been ignored and falsely attacked for doing their job under overwhelming conditions. I went down to the border to hear directly from CBP and say thank you to the men and women that are working to keep the homeland safe.

SERVICE ACADEMY FORUM COMING SOON

My annual Service Academy Forum is on Saturday, September 10th. This is an opportunity for high school students to learn more about the United States military academies and the process to apply.

There are no reservations required for this free event. For more information, visit my website.

Representative Carter joins U.S. Coast Guardsmen to review border security efforts along the Texas coast.

BORDER SECURITY  WITH THE COAST GUARD

Mexican cartels are expanding their trafficking efforts into the United States by using our coastal water to illegally gain entry. The U.S. Coast Guard is on the front lines of protecting our Texas coastline, so I went down to the South Padre Island station to see firsthand how cartels are attempting to traffic drugs, people and money into the U.S. from the water.

I want to hear from you!

I’d love to hear from you so I can better represent you in Congress. Please take this survey to share what issues matter most to you and your family!

Representative Carter gives the Temple Chamber a congressional update.

DISCUSSION WITH THE TEMPLE CHAMBER PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE

I spent an afternoon with the Temple Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Committee to give an update on what’s happening in Congress and hear from them about the issues they care about. We discussed how inflation, the supply chain, and the economy are impacting their businesses in TX-31.

As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates.

It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House.

Sincerely,
John R. Carter
