John,

You probably heard about President Trump's latest executive order attacking refugees, which effectively gives local governments the power to slam the door in the face of those seeking asylum from the horrors of war, famine, violence, and oppression.

Looking at this policy alongside all of the other policies this administration used to target immigrants and refugees, the cruel message President Trump continues to send to the most vulnerable among us is clear: You don't belong. You are not welcome.

John, I want you to know I reject that message in the strongest possible terms, and that's why I joined my colleagues in opposing it.

Minnesotans want everyone to live with the same dignity and respect that they want for themselves. This includes the many refugees we have resettled here, who have given back many times over to the state, communities, and neighbors that have welcomed them.

The President's order is immoral, un-American, and illegal. I'm going to do everything I can to stop it.

Thank you,

Keith Ellison
